Unexpected Blessings

He feels like he is being depleted,
the sole power source for his family,
his work. Still he moves through
the planet with such grace,
donating his life’s blood —
he’s a universal donor,
and to him that means he must give
to everyone. He was almost aborted
and he lives with the deep
knowledge that life is a gift.
I know nothing of angels,
but I can see Archangel Michael
enfolding him in wings,
not gentle appendages:
the subtlest flex of feathers
causes huge gusts that bend trees
and rattle windowpanes.
How can I tell him
he only needs to plug in?
He only needs to ask
and this being of love
will surge in with renewal,
a waterfall of energy.
Each moment bursting with blessings
just waiting for a simple word
like help, please, join me.
