Lethologica is the inability to remember the right word.

You tell me that what is in my way

is my way

and so I pull off the road

marveling at this pair

of bald eagles soaring right above me.

Easy, stark against the sky

to track their lingering swoops

even as a jet plane appears

to hang motionless in my rearview

mirror, the base leg

of the approach pattern

as clear as if drawn on a white-

board. Things that have been hidden

emerging in this new

spaciousness, my willing

eyes accepting the layers

of lessons in the gentle teaching

at the opening of mystery.

I won’t instigate

the investigation, demanding

answers but I’m curious.

Maybe the words will come.

I’m so happy to say

I don’t know

what any of this means.

    1. I’m sorry, I finally saw this! I kept seeing there were two pending comments and couldn’t find which ones they were. Thank you for thinking of me! I don’t participate in awards, though, they make me anxious and add too much stress. I appreciate the kindness in your gesture, though, very much!
