Consider The Impossible

If two electrons are initially vibrating in unison (a state called coherence) they can remain in wavelike synchronization even if they are separated by a large distance.~Michio Kaku

To prepare, I calm my breath,
open the door gently

light-footed, agile as I touch
what lies between us, the energy

sharp, bright, undeniably
invisible. I see his head

raise to acknowledge
one slim chance.

Don’t blow it.
Careful, silent, pen to paper

while he gauges the ripples
of our coherence. I may project

tranquil kindness, but
my humanity marks me

suspect, warlike disrespect
for the obvious web stretching

between our conscious living.
Even my coffee wafts my blatant

disregard. This place tastes of
poison. Traffic hums a distant

present nuisance. Now here
I make my change. Quiet while

you fish but more, I must ignore
your poise, lest our entangled

frequencies alert your prey.
Mingling into this unity as you

pluck this wriggling being
from the shadows, swallow and

sink into the marsh, until one
long black beak appears and we

focus on what lies
beneath the surface.
