Sunrise Change

It’s 63 on this pivotal dawn
the moon still claims the sky and I with yawns
unclench my jaw. Patriarchal intrigue
perhaps the root of my distressed fantigue

like a mosquito buzzing in my ear
that constant drone of threat and fear seems clear
’til a Carolina wren summons bright
and cracks the dark code opening heartlight

(New word for me today. Fantigue: noun

  1. A state of worriment or anxiety.
  2. State of worry or excitement; fidget; ill humor.)

  1. Fantigue is a new word for me….very cool. Your poem captures the mood well. And the heart lifts at the song of the Carolina wren “opening heartlight.” Loved it.
