I Am Pele

(Featured image by Parker Hamblin.  See more of his amazing artwork here.)

I am Pele.

The center of the earth burns

through me.  I create new

land through my fire

when it reaches the sea.

I have been called demon,

but you know better.

My power, wild and glorious,

you cannot harness.

I live in your heart.

I burn through all your

illusions and delusions with

my magnificent gift of necessary destruction.

Seek me when you dare to create.

You will find

I am the fire running

through your very veins.

Right now let us rise up,

tune in to our outrage

sheer conflagration bursting

from the long-suffering

earth.  This invitation burns

our reservations, no longer

hesitating to join the dance

over hot coals, reality finally exposed

insubstantial, imagined obstructions

kindling to our true life flames.

The Magic of Self-Acceptance

“The problem is not being aware of yourself, but loving the person you find out you are,” Tasha Eurich, Insight

I am summoning a djinni

whose task it is to serve me,

a loving coach enrolled

in loosening the hold

of immature deceptions

and childhood misperceptions.

The scolds that I internalized

the anger I don’t vocalize

result in inflammation

an inner conflagration.

Ah, magic spirit, I implore —

chained here in an inner war,

I’m not looking to be doused

though I’m in a flaming house.

I want to love this inner rage

and loose it from its fatal cage.

This fury seemed my weakest link

but with your help, I’ll get in sync

with the fire goddess in my soul

no longer shattered, finally whole!
